Hi my name is John
McFadyen and I'm a professional guitarist from Newcastle Australia. This site is just a bit about me and the bands I have been in and am in at the moment. Also I'll show some photos from on tour and some of my axes and a list of gigs I am doing. Hope you enjoy my site. I'll try to keep it as interesting as I can...
I took up the guitar in 1975
after listening to too many Status Quo and Deep Purple albums at High
school and since have spent the last 26 years in bands and 20 years as a professional. I've been in many bands over that
time, and have always gone for the sixties kind of blues rock, as that is
what I grew up with. |

I spent almost 10 years touring the planet playing in many 5 star resorts in Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand and New Guinea to the Casinos, festivals and country bumpkin bars in the back blocks of Canada and the USA. I've played everywhere from Lochinvar to Las Vegas and most everywhere in between, Ive twice playing the prestigious Calgary Stampede and Merritt Mountain Music Festivals. Many other festivals, county fairs and casinos across the USA and Canada, including Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe supporting such artist as The Everly Bros, Steppenwolf, Alan Jackson, Keith Urban, Trisha Yearwood, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Burton Cummings (The Guess Who), BJ Thomas, Johnny Rivers, Alana Miles, Lover Boy, Terri Clarke, Chubby Checker, The Romantics, hell we even played with the Village People Career highlights

Some of the bands I have played with include 60's mania Showband, The Beatnix, The Fab Four, Beatle Magic, The Stones Downunder, The Australian Beatles Show, The Elvis Experience, The Swingin' Sixties, Al James "The Voice of Neil Diamond", "Imagine That" The John Lennon Show, The British Invasion and The Fake Four to name a few. I am also involved in
country music and I won a major TSA song writing award Tamworth in 1999 for
a song called "Boys will be Boys". Some of my favourite
players include Jimi Hendrix, Ritchie Blackmore, Jimmy Page,
David Gilmore, Carlos Santana to name but a few, and I have seen some of
them perform live as well. So I guess my style is a mix of all those guys
plus my bits as well... Johnno has been described as "Hendrix, Clapton, Santana and Chuck Berry all rolled into one and has to be one of the best Blues/Rock guitarist in the southern hemisphere", so if you like your music with style and attitude come and FEEL how a good guitarist sounds. |
