 About me: John McFadyen

John took up the guitar in 1975 after listening to too many Status Quo and Deep Purple albums at High school and since have spent the last 26 years in bands and 20 years as a professional.
During the 80's John played up around Newcastle and the Hunter Valley in such bands as The Mechanics, The Suburbs, Freeway to name a few.
 In the early 90's John moved to Sydney and for the next 10 years started touring all over the world in leading 60's showband, playing everywhere from Las Vegas to Hong Kong and everywhere in between.
Some of the bands John has played with include 60's mania Showband, The Fab Four, The Stones Downunder, The Australian Beatles Show, The Elvis Experience, The Swingin' Sixties,  "Imagine That" The John Lennon Show, The British Invasion  to name a few.
John still plays around town with Rob Cass and The Cosmic Cowboys, The Fake Four and The Mania

Lessons:

BEGINNER

Your lessons will be suited to your taste and ability, if you are a beginner we will start with naming the strings and a few open chords and progressing up to scales and major scale theory. Basic chord shapes and major scale intervals as well as some easy chord songs, eg: Greenday Time of your life, Van Morrison Brown eyed girl and so on.

INTERMEDIATE

Moving you into bar chords and power chords and then in to the minor pentatonic scale in pattern 1, then we will tackle some easy solo licks from your favorite songs. We will get more into chordal theory and what makes up a good solo.

ADVANCED

Learning the relationship between minor and major scales and the theory behind it all, you will move into some heavier scale patterns and licks from harder songs. Soloing over backing tracks and picking the key of a song by ear.

Times and days, availability

We are open Tuesday, Wed and Thursday from 3pm with other days and times by appointment only.

Times: We teach to the 10 week school term, normal school day lessons starting at 3pm and going to 8pm.

Lesson prices: Lessons are $25 per half hour payable on the day or by the term, so full term price is $250 by
